The basement is just about emptied now, in preparation for the repairs to the ceiling, the stain-covering and painting of the walls, and the new carpet. Still have to pick out the carpeting, but that'll be done last anyway. Very strange down there - it echoes.
Nothing there to absorb the sound. It wasn't even like that when we moved in, as over half of the floor was carpeted. Now...nothing but noises bouncing everywhere. We have everything from the basement crammed into a few rooms on the main floor and the rest stashed in the garage. It's been a good clean-out opportunity, anyway. Do we really need this? No. Out it goes. Trash day is Wednesday...there will be quite the pile out there, ready and waiting. Alex is taking a nap (which is why I can write more than two sentences right now). He's been asleep for over 2 hours, but I think he uses weekends to catch up on any sleep he missed out on during the week. Daycare is tough, you know. It ain't all coloring and snack time. Tires a boy out. Tonight I'm making something with leeks for dinner. Haven't decided what, but I have two nice bunches of them, and I've been wanting them all week. I'll let you know later. Last night Bill made inside out maki rolls with crabmeat in a spicy mayo blend that included wasabi and a red chili sauce that we call "Rooster Sauce" because of the rooster on the bottle. The maki rolls were fabulous. It's nice being married to a man who not only can cook, but likes to cook. And I think this is it for now. My eyes are tired - I've been staring at this screen a lot lately, without any other lights on in the room, as I've been trying to get this new blog ready to go. It has given me a headache, and as a pregnant chick, I don't have a lot of headach-be-gone options. So I'll say farewell for now.
